What Is International Shifting Service?
International packers and movers services handle complete overseas relocation for individuals, families, and businesses moving from India to other countries. Unlike domestic moves, international shifting involves specialized export packing, customs documentation, sea or air freight, destination port handling, customs clearance at destination, and final delivery to the overseas address — a complex process requiring experience and proper partnerships.
DSR Logistics has been providing international relocation services from India since 2014, helping over 380+ families and businesses move to USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Dubai, Singapore, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and 30+ other countries. Our international division maintains partnerships with certified freight forwarders, customs brokers, and destination agents worldwide to ensure your goods reach safely and on time.

Sea Freight vs Air Freight
Choosing the right freight option significantly impacts cost and transit time:
Sea Freight (Ocean Shipping)
Sea freight is the most economical option for international shifting, used by 85% of our overseas relocations:
- FCL (Full Container Load): Dedicated 20ft or 40ft container for your shipment only. Best for 2 BHK+ homes
- LCL (Less than Container Load): Shared container with other shipments. Cost-effective for small loads
- Cost: Significantly cheaper than air freight — 60-70% less
- Transit Time: 7-45 days depending on destination
- Ideal For: Non-urgent moves, complete household relocations, large shipments
Air Freight
Air freight is faster but expensive, best for urgent needs or smaller shipments:
- Speed: 5-10 days transit for most destinations
- Cost: 3-4 times more expensive than sea freight
- Weight-Based Pricing: Calculated per kg — best for valuable, low-volume items
- Ideal For: Essential items, urgent shipments, electronics, documents
- Hybrid Approach: Many clients ship essentials by air, bulk by sea
Our Expert Recommendation
For most complete home relocations, sea freight (FCL or LCL) is the right choice. Consider splitting: send essential items (clothes, documents, important electronics) by air for immediate use at destination, and bulk household goods by sea freight.

Customs Clearance Explained
International shipments require customs clearance at both origin (India) and destination countries:
Indian Export Customs
Our licensed customs broker handles:
- Shipping Bill filing with Indian customs
- Inventory review and valuation
- Export duty assessment (generally nil for household goods)
- Port handling charges and documentation
- Container loading and sealing
Destination Import Customs
Our partner agent at destination handles:
- Import declaration filing
- Duty-free entitlement assessment (most countries allow duty-free for used household goods)
- Quarantine inspection (Australia, New Zealand especially strict)
- Any applicable duties or taxes coordination
- Release from customs and transport arrangement
Duty-Free Tip: Most countries allow duty-free import of used household goods if you've been a resident outside that country for 12+ months and items have been owned for at least 6 months. We guide you through exemption requirements.
